Site coordinator: Lisa Christenson
My name is Lisa Christenson, or “Ms. C.,” as I have been fondly called by students and parents for the past nearly twenty years. I began working with the youth of Southwest Detroit at Beard Elementary School as a parent volunteer in 1996. During that time my schedule was pretty hectic. I was a wife, mommy and full-time college student. Volunteering at the school proved to be beneficial. In a few short weeks, I was hired as a recreation assistant with the newly implemented after-school program. In no time, I was able to apply the knowledge gained from coursework in business administration to garner a position as assistant site director. Within one year, nearing the completion of my degree; I was promoted again to Site Administrator. I had found my passion!
I have extensive knowledge and experience in program management; and thrive on being instrumental in the successful implementation of programs that educate, enrich and empower at-risk youth and their communities. I possess a clear understanding of the challenges associated with operating within the confines of cash-strapped budgets; and the necessity of being proactive in identifying resources to have a direct and meaningful impact. I am a servant and champion for assisting youth in reaching their highest potential. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the Warren Mott High School community as Site Coordinator of the Wayne State University, C2 Pipeline Program.
