Afterschool Fun
C2 Pipeline has started off this year's afterschool program with a bang! Our sites offer 2.5 hours of programming Monday - Thursday. During this time, students receive dinner, academic help and participate in hands-on, project based enrichments. It's a terrific time for students to get to know their peers, have fun and learn about a wide array of the up-and-coming career pathways. In addition to STEM career exploration, C2 Pipeline aims to expose students to a variety of cultural experiences. Below, you will find some of the activities and events that our students participated in during the month of December.

Student of the Month: Lashyia Travis (MLK High School)
Lashyia Travis is a current 12th grader at MLK High School. In the middle of a COVID-19 focused atmosphere, she has been the biggest advocate for the WSU C2 Pipeline program at the Martin Luther King Jr. High School, and outside of the Cheerleading Team Members, Ms. Lashyia is personally responsible for the recruitment 13+ students who currently participate in our program, and that number is still growing. Even on days, when Ms. Lashyia is not present, we still receive an occasional student knocking on our door, requesting to become a member of the C2 Pipeline program. When asked, how they learned about the program, they respond with Ms. Lashyia's name. Thank you, Ms. Lashyia for being an ambassador at a time when recruitment is low statewide.
Staff Member of the Month: Rhonda Holstein (Waterford Kettering High School)
Rhonda is the Site Coordinator at Waterford Kettering High School. Rhonda has been a part of C2 Pipeline for several years - being a Site Coordinator at Pontiac Academy for Excellence and Waterford Durant in the past. Rhonda is known by her colleagues to be one of the most caring, hard working, and selfless people we know. She puts her all into her work and has shown time and time again that she wants the absolute best program for our students and communities. Rhonda is a wonderful and knowledegable educator, who has so many amazing skills, she is a true asset to C2 Pipeline. Rhonda has had a lot of changes this year, with a switching of our funded sites. Through all of these changes, she continues to put C2 Pipeline's students first and puts her whole heart into making a difference in the lives of the youth we serve. Thank you Rhonda, for all of your hard work and dedication to the program!
C2 Parent of the Month: Catrina Stevenson (MLK High School)
Catrina Stevenson (Mother of Camara Stevenson-Jennings / YAC President). They say it is the little things that matter the most. Parent Catrina Stevenson is the ambassador for little things at the MLK High site, especially when it comes to the supplying of 'water' for our students. At the MLK High site, water is a big thing to all of our students, and we consume a lot of it weekly. Without asking, Mrs. Catrina Stevenson is always providing and ensuring our fountain of youth never runs dry! Again, it is the little things that matter, and with so many other stress creators existing in this pandemic driven atmosphere, Mrs. Stevenson's continuous acts of kindness make the difference to our students, especially our athletes and drama team.
C2 Partner of the Month: Anna Ibrahim (Ferndale School Board Member)
Ms. I has been volunteering with UHS C2 Pipeline for a few months now and has been a vital asset to the program. She is a former educator who has been tutoring, assisting, and having fun with us during program. She has taught us so much, and has inspired many of our students
Michigan After-School Collaboration Annual Conference: Impact Award
We would like to send out a huge congratulations to Mr. William Grimm of Oak Park High School. At the recent MAC Conference, Mr. Grimm received the 2022 Impact Award. Mr. Grimm has been the robotics teacher with Square One Innovation, as a sponsor and trainer. He challenges the student to strive to be the best. Students learn how to be a team and how to be problem solvers. They learn on the spot on how to repair a ROV with little adult supervision. He also trains adults all over Michigan, so other students get the chance to participate in Robotics competitions. He is a great influence in the C2 Pipeline at Oak Park High School and we are so grateful for all of the knowledge and time he dedicates to our program. Congratulatons!
