Afterschool Fun
C2 Pipeline has started off this year's afterschool program with a bang! Our sites offer 2.5 hours of programming Monday - Thursday. During this time, students receive dinner, academic help and participate in hands-on, project based enrichments. It's a terrific time for students to get to know their peers, have fun and learn about a wide array of the up-and-coming career pathways.
At Warren Fitzgerald High School, our students are engrossed in some amazing lessons. During the anatomy enrichments, students learn about the different body systems and their purpose, they also received a visit from C2 Pipeline's Innovation and Curiosity Center - where students participated in a sheep brain dissection. Below are photos showing what they have been up to these past few weeks! Great job, everyone!
Meanwhile, students at Warren Woods Tower High School have been using their investigative skills and learned how to analyze fingerprints during our Forensic CSI enrichment. They also exercised thier creativity and engineering techniques while competing in a tower challenge and air balloon activity. As the program progresses, enrichments will continue to grow and build upon these concepts - giving students the critical thinking and problem solving skills that are necessary for those who wish to pursue a career in engineering, science, healthcare or business!
C2 Adventures
On Thursday, September 26th, C2 Pipeline groups from Eastpointe High School and Oak Park High School ventured to Comerica Park to watch the Tigers take on the Minnesota Twins. It was a perfect day to take in a baseball game, the weather was perfect... and even though the Tigers did not come out on top... our students still had a great time watching the game, meeting paws and enjoying the electric energy of Downtown Detroit! Tickets were donated to us from the Detroit Tigers Foundation and were awarded to the schools who had the highest number of enrolled students. Congratulations to our Shamrocks and Knights! Thank you to the Detroit Tigers Foundation for your support!
Student of the Month: Deshawna Wilson (River Rouge High School)
DeShawna Wilson first and foremost is a staple for C2 Pipeline, she has the grades, she comes every day, she takes care of her community, her family and looks out for other students. DeShawna promotes C2 Pipeline throughout River Rouge High School, she is genuine and truly understands the vision of our program. Thank you, Deshawna, for all that you do! Keep up the great work!!
Parents of the Month: Katherine Epskamp and Ben Bur (Waterford Durant)
C2 Pipeline would like to recognize Katherine Epskamp and Ben Bur for their dedication in helping their daughter become a part of our afterschool program. We love to see family members so involved and interested in assisting their students get the most out of their high school experience. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you throughout the school year!
Staff Member of the Month: Clinton Loh (Clintondale High School)
Clinton has been the C2 Pipeline Site Coordinator at Clintondale High school since September 2018. He is full of positive energy and always is concerned for his peers.This past summer, Clinton spent countless hours interviewing new candidates for C2 Pipeline for all sites - demonstrating his willingness to help the program and modeled what teamwork and leadership looks like. Thank you, Clinton, for all that you do for the program. Here's to another great year at Clintondale!
Registration
Are you a high school student at one of our 24 high school sites? Interested in exploring STEM careers through fun, interactive lessons? Want to meet people with similar interests? Check out C2 Pipeline's afterschool program. Just fill out our Registration Form with your guardian and turn it into the Site Coordinator.
Calling all Family Ambassadors...
C2 Pipeline will be resuming their Parent/Family Coffee Chats this year. These informal gatherings will be an opportunity for you to learn about what C2 Pipeline can offer your student, share resources for college preparation, give you details about upcoming events and get your feedback to improve our program. The next meeting is October 3rd at The Dovetail coffeehouse - 29200 Hoover Rd, Warren, MI 48093. The meeting will start at 6 PM. C2 Pipeline Lights On Afterschool Fall Festival
C2 Pipeline is hosting a Grantee-Wide event for students and their families on Saturday, October 26th. At this event, attendees will be able to particpate in fun STEM activities, take part in raffles, play carnival games and enjoy a festive lunch! Come out and show your support for afterschool programs. Admission and parking is free for C2 Pipeline students and family members.
